OSCE stations are scored by examiners.
MCCQE Exam Dates, Registration, and Fees
The appropriate materials and score sheets corresponding to a station which include checklists of tasks and in most cases rating scales are supplied by the Medical Council of Canada MCC along with any necessary props such as X-rays or photographs. Objectivity of scoring is achieved using standardized guidelines for exam administration, the training of examiners and of SPs, and the use of predetermined scoring instruments for OSCE stations. You are expected to demonstrate appropriate, ethical and professional behaviour.
When filling out the examiner checklist, examiners are asked if you demonstrated a critical lapse in professional behaviour. All critical lapses in professional behaviour are evaluated by the Central Examination Committee CEC and could result in a letter to you or you receiving a denied standing on the exam. Only two categories of results are provided to candidates: pass and fail. For more information, please refer to FAQs.

Standard setting is the process used to define an acceptable level of performance and to establish a pass score for a target level of performance. The panel will recommend the pass score to the CEC for approval. Please note that as total scores will not be reported to candidates, the established pass score will not be published. A total score equal to or greater than the pass score is a pass; a total score less than the pass score is a fail.
The pilot questions and cases are not identified on the exam; you should try to do as well as you can on every question and case.
This means that those of you who meet or exceed the standard will pass the exam regardless of how well other candidates perform on it.
Some CDM questions, such as a question whose answer includes multiple correct elements, allow candidates to receive more than 1 point.

MCCQE Part I subscores are presented graphically to indicate your relative strengths and weaknesses in each of the domains. Every few years, the MCC brings together a panel of Canadian physicians to define an acceptable level of performance and establish the pass score for the MCCQE Part I through a standard-setting exercise.
In Junethe MCC completed a rigorous standard-setting exercise based on expert judgments from a panel of 22 physicians across the country that represented faculties of medicine, different specialties, and years of experience supervising students and residents.
A total score equal to or greater than the pass score is a pass, and a total score less than the pass score is a fail. This means that you will pass if you meet or exceed the pass score regardless of how well other candidates perform. Your total score is reported as a scaled score ranging from to with a mean of and a standard deviation of The mean and standard deviation were set using the results from the April session.
Results from the April and subsequent sessions will be reported using this scale, allowing you to compare candidate performance across sessions beginning with the April session. This pass score will remain in place until the next standard-setting exercise.
The scale ranged from 50 to with a mean of and a standard deviation of The mean and standard deviation were set using the results from the spring session. Because the exams are different and based on different blueprints, you cannot directly compare scores from before to those in and beyond.
However, you can compare your performance to the mean and standard deviation that was in place for your exam session.
